We specialise in re-creating aspects of both military and civilian 17th century life
from common soldier
to Lords and Ladies.
Our main area of expertise however, is the English Civil War
which ravaged the Country in the 1640’s
We concentrate our events in the Midlands and in particular Staffordshire and Lichfield,
where the Cathedral Close was garrisoned by both Royalist and Parliamentarian soldiers
in the Civil War
We portray soldiers and civilians though living history displays, period drill displays
of arms and weapons, and demonstrations of aspects of everyday life such as cooking,
sewing and games and where the opportunity arises we work closely with other societies
to enhance our display.
We pride ourselves on being more authentic (accurate in dress accoutrements and demeanour)
than a lot of
other groups but we do not go all out for ‘total immersion’ as some do. Our ethos
is, “If you are going to do a job do it properly but keep a sense of proportion!”
